Connect Google Ads customer match to MailNesto Staging

Sync segments to Google Ads for search, YouTube and Gmail campaigns.

Overview

Google Ads customer match and MailNesto Staging, together

Customer Match lets Google Ads show ads to, or keep them away from, people already on your list across Search, YouTube and Gmail. This connection keeps a Customer Match list in sync with a list or segment in MailNesto Staging and refreshes it every day.

Emails are hashed with SHA-256 before they leave MailNesto Staging, only subscribed and unsuppressed contacts are included, and each sync uploads only what changed: new people added, people who left removed.

What syncs

What moves between Google Ads customer match and MailNesto Staging

From MailNesto StagingCustomer Match list members

Hashed emails of subscribed contacts in the chosen list or segment, uploaded as a first-party customer list that MailNesto Staging creates on the first sync.

From MailNesto StagingRemovals

Unsubscribes, suppressions and people who no longer match the segment are removed at the next sync.

From MailNesto StagingConsent signals

Uploads mark ad user data and ad personalisation consent as granted, so make sure the people you sync agreed to be marketed to.

Set it up

Connect Google Ads customer match in a few minutes

  1. 1

    Gather the Google Ads credentials

From the Google Ads API Center copy a developer token (basic access or higher). In Google Cloud console create an OAuth web client and get a refresh token for a user with access to the account (scope adwords).

  2. 2

    Connect the account

In MailNesto Staging open Integrations → Ad audiences and add a Google Ads account: the 10-digit customer ID, the manager account ID if you sign in through one, the developer token, OAuth client ID and secret, and the refresh token.

  3. 3

    Create the synced audience

Add an audience, give it a name, pick a list or segment and keep daily sync on. The list appears in Google Ads under the audience manager.

  4. 4

    Check eligibility

Google applies its own Customer Match policy and minimum sizes. If the account isn’t eligible, the sync shows Google’s error message.

FAQ

Questions about the Google Ads customer match integration

What does MailNesto Staging need from Google?

A customer ID, developer token, OAuth client ID and secret, and a refresh token. All are checked with a harmless read before the account is saved, and secrets are stored encrypted.

Can I use a manager (MCC) account?

Yes. Enter the manager account ID along with the customer ID of the account that runs the ads.

How quickly do changes reach Google Ads?

MailNesto Staging uploads changes daily or when you click “Sync now”. Google then processes the upload on its side, which can take a while.

Can I send audiences to other ad platforms?

Download a hashed CSV from the Ad audiences tab and upload it to any platform that accepts SHA-256 hashed emails.
